Separate successful account creation from login and email-delivery outcomes.

Practice: signup outcome feedback
Create a status panel alongside the built-in signup form. Show busy state first, then errors, then account-created notices. When a current user exists, show their display name instead of assuming every successful signup established a session.

Use notice and error for different outcomes. Do not expose a password or verification token in the panel. Preview the available mock cases and retain the mail-transport case for generated-PHP tests or installed WordPress acceptance.
A boolean cannot describe the whole account state
register() tells you whether account creation succeeded. Read the current user and feedback to decide the next interface state.
